Sometimes, as a parent, it takes a beautiful, insightful poem to get the point across.

The following was passed onto us yesterday, (unedited) from our 7 year old’s teacher..

I Want to Be My OWN Person
by: Ella

People are always telling me
“You have to do this”
“You have to do that”
I want to be My Own Person

I don’t want to be clean
I don’t want to wear a pretty dress everyday

I don’t want people to tell me what to do
I want to do my own thing
I
Want
To
Be
My
Own
Person

If you let me be my own person
I can be the Best
Better than you will ever imagine!

I love to do handstands
Let me be alone
I can do Everything
I can do it myself
Trust me I know what I am doing

I want to make a difference to the world!
