During last night’s 1st Presidential Debate, Mitt Romney (who seemingly understands the importance of quality education) stated “I’m going to the stop the subsidy to PBS.”

Regardless of political view, why is it unclear to some that PBS is one of our Most Important Educational Tools (at a yearly fed. investment of $1.35 per American per year)?

Why would anyone close “America’s Biggest Classroom”?

  1. Yes, PBS is an amazing classroom and has been for myself and my children too, why put that classroom at risk when the amount of the support is so miniscule in comparison to all of the other expenditures they support. Hmph!

We were baffled by that comment too. He obviously has not been informed that PBS is much more than Big Bird, or even PBS Kids. The last thing we need to do is rob future generations to pay for our current (and really, past) financial mismanagement. Our children are the ones who will end up paying for the choices (good and bad) we make today.
To paraphrase Sting: “I hope the (Republicans/Democrats) love their children too.”
