Hey parents. Remember when you first had a baby? That feeling of waiting and waiting to meet the baby and then she’s finally here!

Well, premiering a new show is NOT like that.

Premiering a new show is like loving your baby up for 4 years and then they finally go to preschool and share their brilliance with the world.

Premiering a new show is like THAT!Creative Galaxy Premiere

I want to thank all of you who welcomed Creative Galaxy with open arms.

I want to thank all of you who responded to the hard work from my team at Out Of The Blue Ent & so many other talented individuals that are behind Arty and his Creative Galaxy friends!

Thank you for being open to being inspired and for creating along with Arty!

Creative Galaxy premiere

Thank you for having your kids fix things with Art!

And as an answer to some of those summer blahs, please go make some of our crafts!  Arty’s Starry Night Light and the Homemade Snow Globe are two of my favorites. Make them and PLEASE share them with me here!

I will share some of our craft recipes with you and even post some of Arty’s crafts. Here’s to inspiration! GO BE AMAZING!!!!

While the Creative Galaxy premiere in NYC was an incredible event, the positive reviews and supportive feedback was more than I could have ever imagined. Here’s just a few worth mentioning:

Wishenpoof
Amazon Studios made the announcement yesterday that they greenlit our preschool series Wishenpoof!, along with four other kids’ show pilots.
Amazon Studios
I have to tell you that this little story has been inside my head since I was a little girl. I loved any well written, ‘magical’ book series and always wondered what it would be like if you were able to make the unimaginable happen!

I’ve always wanted to write for a strong female lead character who is smart, funny, caring and PROUD to be a bit girly.

photo: Sex & the CityDo you ever notice that “tutus” and “brains” rarely go together?

When I first saw Carrie Bradshaw working it in a tutu and writing her column, I thought – see!  There it is!  A strong, smart girly girl…

So thanks to Amazon Studios, Wishenpoof’s Bianca is our gal.

Yes, the show involves much problem solving, empathy and techniques which aid in effective decision making, but Bianca’s also adorable, fun and funny, loves adventure and well..can make anyone’s WISHES come true.

How fun am I having making this one???  SO MUCH FUN!!

More info to come!

iQ: smartparentMany parents are concerned about the enormous media content their children are exposed to. And while the number of avenues that deliver these various messages is increasing, there are just as many contradicting opinions on all of this content.

How can a parent properly assess it all, so that their children can consume age appropriate material that’s conducive to their growth?

WQED launched iQ: smartparent in response to a research study made up of parents expressing a desire to build their confidence with educational, 21st century media & expand their capacity for co-learning with their digitally savvy children. Through a series of 6 hour-long broadcasts & numerous online resources, iQ: smartparent equips parents & caregivers with tools & resources to aid their understanding and use of digital media & technologies for learning.

Thursday, June 27th, I will be hosting iQ: smartparent Tune In, Tune Out” in the Fred Rogers’ Studios.

Do your children believe everything they see on TV? How does your child learn to separate fiction from reality? This episode will empower families with skills & techniques which will assist in evaluating media while identifying ways that it can positively impact their lives.

iQ smartParent guests

I will be speaking with Board Certified Family Physician, Deborah Gilboa MD (@AskDocG), educational psychologist & children’s TV producer Alice Wilder (@alicewilder), Emmy®-award winning music producer, Emmai Alaquiva (@Emmai_Alaquiva) and behavioral scientist at the RAND Corp., Steven Martino.

If you are interested in attending the “Tune In, Tune Out” live taping in Pittsburgh, PA on Thursday, June 27, 2013 from 6:30-8 PM (EDT) please visit iQsmartparent4’s eventbrite page. iQ smartparent’s “Tune In, Tune Out” episode premieres: August 29, 8:00pmCommon Sense Media

iQ: smartparent is brought to you by WQED Multimedia with generous support from an anonymous donor & expertise from Common Sense Media.

“We are thrilled to welcome Angela Santomero to the iQ: smartparent series. She offers the sensitivity, advice, and media savvy to help any parent make great decisions about how 21 century media impacts a child. As a parent and TV creator she lives it every day.”

Creative Galaxy

Creative Galaxy (the animated & interactive, art adventure series, designed to inspire kids’ creative thinking through crafts, story, music & dance) has received the green light from Amazon Studios for series production!

The Creative Galaxy series will be offered on Amazon Studios’ subscription video service at the end of this year.

It’s really rewarding to hear that customers loved Creative Galaxy. It’s been a passion project for me to bring the best arts & creativity to kids with Amazon and I’m so excited that kids are going to be able to enjoy a full season of the show early next year!

Creative Galaxy

We need more innovative kids programming that puts a strong emphasis on creativity & education. I’m proud & honored to be collaborating with Amazon to make these shows for kids.

Thank you, thank you EVERYONE that viewed & commented over at Amazon Studios on Creative Galaxy & Sara Solves It! And regarding Sara, rest assured, she hasn’t been shelved. So stay tuned!!

Don’t forget to view the “Sara Solves It” math pilot (in progress) & to leave your feedback over at Amazon Studios today, or this hour..whatever works best. So, what’cha doin’ now?

Creative Galaxy

In the Creative Galaxy (a galaxy made up of different art inspired planets) lives a creative preschool alien, Arty, with his mom, dad, baby sister and his shape shifting side kick, Epiphany. Arty explores the Creative Galaxy, soaring to the Museum Planet and the Painting Planet (and many more arts based planets in future episodes) to “fix situations with art!”.

In this pilot episode, Arty’s mom, an architect, built a library but no one will stay and read.Creative Galaxy

Why?

The library is..well..blah. Arty has an idea that will save the day!

He will fix the library with art!

Will he do it?

Will the aliens stay to read?

You will have to watch to find out!

Oh, and wait until you hear the theme song – – don’t say I didn’t warn you when it gets stuck in your head!

Out Of the Blue

Out of the Blue Enterprises works with the best in the business to create something new and different:  Samantha Freeman, Traci Paige Johnson, Dr. Alice Wilder, Becky Friedman, Wendy Harris, Rachel Kalban & animation from 9 Story Entertainment. With this team, we believe, we have the building blocks for kids to soar.

NOTE:  Creative Galaxy is a work in process – it is presently a colored story board of sketches that tells the story with voice overs, music & minimal art (And, yes, I know how funny that is, since this is an ART show!)

Please check out Creative Galaxy & Sara Solves It at Amazon Studios. If you feel that your kids would benefit from either (or dare I say, both), please leave your feedback by next week. YOUR online support will determine which shows get picked up for series!

Thank you

Creative Galaxy

So much media & not enough quality programming? Amazon Studios is lending a hand here.

They have chosen to let YOU decide what shows get green lit for production!

Pilots are now available on Amazon Instant Video for parents to review & comment on, essential to the decision making process.

As I discussed in my earlier post, Amazon Studios Greenlights Kids’ Arts Pilot, two of my pilots ( Creative Galaxy and Sara Solves It) were also chosen by Amazon Studios to be among those viewed programs.
